About

A self-educated abstract artist, M Rozbih’s figurative abstract paintings explore the uncharted power and complexity of the subconscious mind, and its connection to consciousness and existence.

For Rozbih, art has always been in his life. He was born in to a family of creatives with deep artistic roots: his father, grandfather and great-grandfather were all multi-talented masons and architects with interests ranging from the ancient art of mosaics and poetry to music.

Rozbih developed a deep interest in the abstract expressionism at an early age. His textured figurative works are the conclusions of laborious procedures bridging the gap between the subconscious mind and the conscious awareness. His paintings are spontaneous and subconscious creations which are initiated, formed, developed and concluded organically without any preconceived ideas. His art arises from a subconscious reservoir of feelings, thoughts, emotions, urges, and memories.

Rozbih uses tools including tapping knives, trowels, palette knives and hands, and mixed-media including acrylic paint, pigments, chalk, charcoal, molding paste, paper and plaster, while also redefining these traditional mediums by introducing new materials in to his work. To achieve new textures and colours, he also experiments with incorporating natural elements and other hardware.
